Where do training sessions take place?

All evaluations and lessons take place at our training studio located at 1030 N. Winton Rd., Rochester, NY 14609. We do not offer in-home training.

Do you offer boarding, board and train programs or daycare?

No. Rochester Canine Academy does not offer boarding, board and train programs, or daycare. We specialize in private lesson programs.

Do you offer group classes?

No. We specialize in private lesson programs. Our goal is to meet the needs of each dog and owner in a one-on-one setting.

Do you offer free evaluations?

No. Evaluations are 1 hour and cost $100. The fee is non-refundable. If a program is chosen during the evaluation, that $100 is applied toward your program deposit.

How old does my dog need to be to start training?

We work with dogs as young as 8 weeks old. Puppies under 12 weeks of age are eligible for our Start Smart Puppy Program. Puppies and dogs over 12 weeks of age are eligible for our Signature Programs.

What kind of training methods do you use?

We use clear communication, structure, rewards, guidance, and accountability to help dogs learn reliable real-world behavior. Training is tailored to the individual dog, the goals of the owner, and what is needed to help that dog succeed.

Do you work with reactive dogs?

Yes. We welcome most reactivity cases.

Do you work with aggression cases?

Dogs who have previously bitten people or other dogs are accepted on a case-by-case basis.

How do I get started?

The first step is to connect with Lyss, our admin, by phone, text, email, or through our Contact Us page. She can answer initial questions, schedule your evaluation, and handle billing for that first appointment.

Your 1-hour evaluation is then with Alisson, your trainer and owner of Rochester Canine Academy. During that appointment, Alisson learns all about you, your dog, your goals, and discusses the training programs that may be the best fit

Do you accept walk-ins?

No. Rochester Canine Academy is by appointment only.
Lessons are scheduled Wednesdays through Saturdays from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Sundays from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
